Along with the popularity of workouts in more American fitness clubs is the rise of Green Revolution. The company has a pending application for a new invention that can convert people’s movement in aerobic activities into clean and renewable energy.
In its report, Green Revolution cited that one session of a cycling class with 20 bikes can generate 3 kilowatts of electricity. With four sessions each day, this class has the potential to produce about 300 kilowatts in one month.
The stationary bikes are ties to an inverter. The electricity produced is transferred to a storage cabinet. All the parts of the bike are protected with a non-conductive plastic to keep the bike and the user safe. Each stationary bike that uses this energy would cost $750.
In the near future, the Green Revolution website will track the energy produced during the exercise. Green Revolution is also innovating to provide an interactive carbon calculator to help the users in calculating their carbon footprint and determine the impact of their exercises to the environment.

Recommind: The Next Generation eDiscovery Company
Recommind is a private company that develops and sells software used for content categorization, enterprise search, information governance and electronic discovery. It was established by Jan Puzicha, Derek Schueren and Bob Tennant in 2000. Recommind is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
Recommind’s software technology is based on the data analysis technique called Context Optimized Relevance Engine or CORE, which is proprietary to Recommind. Based on the research that Puzicha and Hoffman undertook while they were studying at the University of California, Berkeley, CORE was patented to them in 1999.
The Forrester Research named Recommind as the leading company in the enterprise search industry. Recommind was also chosen as one of the leaders in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for e-discovery in 2013. Fast Company also included Recommind in its 2013 list of the Ten Most Innovative Companies in Big Data. The Securities and Exchange Commission also granted Recommind an e-discovery review contract in 2013.
Back in his years at University of California, Berkeley, Puzicha has spent years in researching multimedia information retrieval, text mining and machine learning. Back then, Puzicha anticipated that in the future, the existing information retrieval technology cannot handle the amount of information that organizations would process every day. Puzicha was motivated to continue his research and discover a breakthrough solution.
After the approval of its patent application for the CORE, Puzicha partnered with Schueren and Tennant and formally established Recommind as a business entity. This team developed applications which were on CORE technology to address many of the most compelling eDiscovery, search, classification and compliance problems faced by many large companies today.
Being a leader in eDiscovery, records management, compliance, regulatory and data retention, Recommind has been active in teaming up with other industry players in looking for solutions to meet the information risk management issues that confront various industry groups today. Recommind demonstrated this commitment by joining groups and alliances that promote this cause: Search and XML Schema Working Groups (where Recommind is co-chairman), Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) group, and Big Data Coalition (where Recommind sits as member). Recommind is also actively working with Association of Corporate Counsel, Sedona Conference, ILTA, the DESI Workshop, Women in eDiscovery, ARMA, AIIM and many others.

Stageit: Front Seats at the Backstage
Stageit is a Hollywood-based online platform that offers a venue for musical artists to market their live performances through the webcam. The decision to choose the time, duration and price of the performance relies on the artists. Fans can provide instant feedback using Stageit’s Tip Jar. Fans can use the Tip Jar to tip their favorite artists in real time. It has a chat window where fans can make requests or comment on an ongoing performance. Performances made through Stageit are not archived or distributed.
Stageit was created with the artists and the fans in mind. Fans can have the opportunity for live interaction, anytime and anywhere. Artists with a fan base of one million, or the ones with just a handful of followers – all have the same opportunity to showcase their talents and make money.
In every occasion, the front seats are the most expensive. But Stageit is not about the front seats. It is more concerned about the backstage. That’s where every artist would really want to be. Stageit gives everyone’s “backstage” experience a place in the front seats.
Getting close to their favorite artists will not be easier for fans. Not only that. Stageit will help these fans discover new artists. Stageit is a great way to see the “other” side of an artist – one that his fans never knew. The Tip Jar makes this happen.
Stageit was established and is manned by artists, who happened to have hearts like those of avid fans. These people have been on actual quest of getting close to their favorite artists. They have spent those years in findings ways to help artists connect with their fan base, and vice versa using the power of the internet.
Thus far, Stageit has done a great job of changing things. While the company has been successful and has accomplished what they wanted, Stageit continues in building the platform to make it more useful. These efforts are directed towards Stageit’s dream of building a music community that wholly supports both the artists and the fans so everybody can take the front seats in their backstage experience.

OpenStreetMap Foundation: Providing Access to the World Map, Anytime and Anywhere
OpenStreetMap Foundation (OSMF) is a non-profit organization established to develop free and reusable geospatial data. Registered as a guarantee-limited company in England and Wales, OSMF is associated with the OpenStreetMap (OSM) project.

Using crowdsourcing, its over a million users gather data using aerial photography, hand-held GPS devices, and other free sources of information. These data are made available for public consumption through the Open Database License.
OSMF is funded by donations and membership fees. Its operations are managed by a board composed of seven members.
