Activision Blizzard is a publisher of online, console, PC, handheld and mobile games with a worldwide coverage. The company has strategically positioned itself across all major categories of the growing interactive media and entertainment. Vivendi, a French conglomerate, owns majority of the shares of Activision Blizzard. The company was formed through the merger of Vivendi Games and Activision. The deal was reported to be valued at $18.8 billion. The merger was sealed on July 9, 2008.
